Extended Integration between Global Books in Print and Amlib now available
With the recent release of Version 4.1 of InfoVision’s Amlib Library Management System and Bowker’s new
Z39.50 search extensions, libraries can now experience bi-directional integration between their Amlib
Bibliographic database and Global Books in Print.
The bi-directional integration enables libraries to:
• Use the Amlib Catalogue module to search the Global Books in Print bibliographic database (via
Z39.50 protocol), then click the required records from the search results and instantly import into
the Amlib Catalogue databases – an easy way for creating orders and importing marc records.
• Search Global Books in Print at www.globalbooksinprint.com to access a huge database of books,
audiocassettes, and videos with searches across formats, subjects, and country origins with singleclick
ease, and then use Bowker’s Hooks to Holdings™ for users to interact the library’s Amlib
catalogue directly from the Web site (e.g to see whether the library holds a copy of the item
searched within GBIP)
• Link rich content held within GBIP to Amlib bibliographic records for display within the Amlib OPAC
module.
