• eBooks get serious
  Churning steadily just below the high profile of the music industry´s digital drama, electronic publishing has quietly become a major force in the worlds of media and technology.  In the first half of this year, alone, eBook sales revenues are up by 30% and unit sales up by 40% over the same period in 2002.  This compares to an annual growth rate of just about 5% in traditional print publishing.  The Open eBook Forum (OeBF), the electronic publishing industry´s trade and standards organization, reveals detailed statistics on the current state of eBooks and provides a comprehensive industry analysis in its first quarterly eBook and eDocument Publishing and Retail Statistics. 

  Compiled from data submitted by 34 of the world´s leading publishers and retailers, the analysis marks the first-ever quantitative assessment of the electronic publishing industry.

• Open eBook Forum releases Q3 eBook Stats
  Retail eBook sales continued their strong growth into the third quarter of 2003 according to data released today by the Open eBook Forum, the eBook industry trade and standards organization (www.openebook.org). Cumulative units sold for the first three quarters of 2003 (Jan á Sept) have surpassed the one million mark for the first time in a single year and are up 64% over Q3 2002. Revenues reported by retailers for the third quarter of 2003 were up a solid 37% over the same period in 2002. These and other figures charting the eBook industry are reported in the quarterly OeBF eBook Publishing and Retail Statistics Report.
