There's nothing worse than creating a great ebook only to wrap it in an ugly cover that repels purchasers. Yet, designing a great looking ebook cover for your new self publishing venture -- sure can have its challenges.

Where do you start?

I had just completed my first ebook, the James Martell's "Affiliate Marketers Handbook - 2002", and needed some very cool, kick butt, take-no-prisoners cover art. Quickly, I learned, it comes down to two choices for cover designs.

• Hire a graphics designer
• Purchase ecover generator software

As someone who does not like to do things half way, -- I tried both options ...but quickly learned that it can be quite time consuming to hunt down the right graphics designer who is not only set-up to do small jobs, but who can also follow directions and who won't break the bank (I didn't have much too spend).

If I only knew then, what I know now.

In my travels, I came across the ecover generator software from eCoverGenerator.com, and I purchased a copy. It's a pretty cool piece of software and well worth the money. Especially, if you don't mind tinkering with the look of your cover a little.

As far as my cover, I ended up settling on KillerCovers.com who did an outstanding job for $117. I recommend them highly, especially if you're not quite sure what type of design you're looking to have.
